Biggest gainers and losers (24h)

We count only coins with at least $10M turnover listed on three or more exchanges (this keeps single-venue pumps and scam tokens out). Prices come from the largest venue by turnover; turnover from the largest spot venue.

Kimchi premium right now

The kimchi premium (the price gap between Korean and overseas exchanges) is +0.86% — 24h average +0.89%, range +0.64% to +1.24%. Korea is slightly more expensive = normal domestic demand.

Coins with the widest gaps in our latest scan (one row per coin):

  • SOPH premium — Gate.io $0.00586 · Upbit $0.00734709 — 25.38% apart
  • ONG premium — Binance $0.0931 · Upbit $0.0958 — 2.90% apart
  • ATOM premium — HTX $1.82 · Upbit $1.85 — 1.53% apart

Read these gaps after fees, transfer time and FX. They are not an arbitrage call — they are a thermometer for which side of the market runs hotter.

Funding-rate skew (which way futures lean)

The funding rate is a fee that passes periodically between longs and shorts in perpetual futures. Positive means longs pay shorts; the further it drifts from the 0.01% baseline, the more crowded one side is.

  • BTC 0.0052% per 8h (about 0.02% a day) — At the baseline = longs are not crowded
  • ETH 0.0069% per 8h (about 0.02% a day) — At the baseline = longs are not crowded
  • WAVES a lot of money is betting it falls — holding leverage costs about 6.01% a day (CoinEx)
  • ONG a lot of money is betting it falls — holding leverage costs about 3.74% a day (Bybit)

A holding cost this wide is not an income opportunity — it is a signal that one side is badly crowded. On such coins, price swings dwarf the fee.

Yesterday's main stories

1. Liquid Network Hacker Returns 85% of Stolen Bitcoin

On September 8, 2026, on-chain data confirmed that a hacker returned 3,400 BTC (approximately 85% of the stolen funds) to the Liquid Federation address on September 7 at 16:09 UTC. This followed an exploit on September 6 on the Liquid Network, a Bitcoin sidechain (a secondary blockchain running parallel to the main chain), where approximately 4,000 BTC worth $320 million was stolen due to an Elements bug. The remaining 598.5 BTC has not been returned yet.

This security breach and the temporary network suspension dampened investor sentiment, acting as a downward pressure that pushed Bitcoin below the $80,000 mark to hover in the $78,000 range.

2. Strong US Jobs Data Sparks Fed Rate Hike Concerns

Following reports of a strong US labor market in August with non-farm payrolls increasing by 162,000 and the unemployment rate hitting 4.1%, global investment bank UBS revised its outlook on September 8, 2026. UBS now forecasts two 25-basis-point rate hikes in September and December, while the CME FedWatch tool showed the probability of a September rate hike exceeding 58%.

Concerns over prolonged monetary tightening triggered a sell-off in risky assets, causing Bitcoin to drop over 1% to the $78,000 level and leading to $208 million in liquidations (including $119 million in long positions) in the derivatives market.

3. Ethereum Exchange Outflows Surge Amid Mixed Investor Activity

According to on-chain analyst Ali Martinez on September 8, 2026, over 116,000 ETH (worth approximately $300 million) was withdrawn from cryptocurrency exchanges to external wallets over a 48-hour period, dropping exchange balances to 11.92 million ETH, the lowest since August 31. Meanwhile, medium-to-large investors holding 100 to 10,000 ETH sold about 307,000 ETH, while ultra-large whales purchased only 82,000 ETH.

As the withdrawal of ETH by whales for long-term holding clashed with selling pressure from general investors, the price of Ethereum remained flat, consolidating within a narrow range around $2,480.

What to watch today and this week

  1. 10 Sep (Thu) KST — MultiversX (EGLD) Supernova Mainnet Upgrade. This upgrade will officially activate on the mainnet to improve the performance of the network's core infrastructure.
  2. 10 Sep (Thu) Evening KST — European Central Bank (ECB) Interest Rate Decision and Press Conference. The monetary policy decision and subsequent press conference by President Lagarde could impact Euro liquidity and global macroeconomic conditions, which in turn influences the cryptocurrency market.
  3. 11 Sep (Fri) 21:30 KST — US August Consumer Price Index (CPI) Announcement. As the final key inflation metric released before the Federal Reserve's September FOMC meeting, this report is highly anticipated to determine the likelihood and scale of a rate hike, potentially driving extreme market volatility.

Volatility often picks up around these dates. Simply knowing when they land helps you avoid being caught off guard.
