Biggest gainers and losers (24h)

We count only coins with at least $10M turnover listed on three or more exchanges (this keeps single-venue pumps and scam tokens out). Prices come from the largest venue by turnover; turnover from the largest spot venue.

Kimchi premium right now

The kimchi premium (the price gap between Korean and overseas exchanges) is +0.45% — 24h average +0.42%, range +0.09% to +0.75%. Korean and overseas prices are nearly the same.

Coins with the widest gaps in our latest scan (one row per coin):

  • SAND premium — Poloniex $0.0439 · Upbit $0.0447 — 1.85% apart
  • SUPER premium — KuCoin $0.2243 · Upbit $0.2283 — 1.80% apart
  • POL premium — Poloniex $0.1075 · Bithumb $0.1094 — 1.74% apart

Read these gaps after fees, transfer time and FX. They are not an arbitrage call — they are a thermometer for which side of the market runs hotter.

Funding-rate skew (which way futures lean)

The funding rate is a fee that passes periodically between longs and shorts in perpetual futures. Positive means longs pay shorts; the further it drifts from the 0.01% baseline, the more crowded one side is.

  • BTC 0.003% per 8h (about 0.01% a day) — At the baseline = longs are not crowded
  • ETH 0.0055% per 8h (about 0.02% a day) — At the baseline = longs are not crowded
  • ARK a lot of money is betting it falls — holding leverage costs about 22.31% a day (Bybit)
  • FET a lot of money is betting it falls — holding leverage costs about 4.5% a day (CoinEx)

A holding cost this wide is not an income opportunity — it is a signal that one side is badly crowded. On such coins, price swings dwarf the fee.

Yesterday's main stories

1. US SEC Proposes New Crypto Custody Rules for Investment Companies

On October 1, 2026 (local time), the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) proposed a new draft regulatory framework for how investment companies and advisors manage clients' crypto assets. This proposal aims to clarify custody qualifications and strengthen record-keeping and audit requirements, filling a regulatory gap after the 'Clarity Act' failed to pass the Senate last month.

Bitcoin showed resilience and rebounded slightly to the mid-$84,000 range as expectations grew for reduced regulatory uncertainty and faster institutional adoption.

2. MetaMask Suffers Security Breach in Staking Infrastructure

On the late night of September 30, 2026, MetaMask disclosed a security breach in part of its non-custodial staking (formerly Consensys Staking) infrastructure. While MetaMask stated that user wallets and funds were not directly affected, they suspended impacted validator nodes as a precaution, leading to the gradual removal of MetaMask staking validators from the Lido protocol by October 7, 2026.

Ethereum's price remained stable around the $2,700 level without triggering market-wide panic, as the incident did not lead to the theft of personal wallets.

3. Leveraged Long Positions Liquidated in Temporary Market Correction

On October 1, 2026, approximately $164 million (around 220 billion KRW) worth of leveraged positions were forcibly liquidated in the crypto futures market. The majority of these liquidations were concentrated in 'long' positions (bets on price increases).

The liquidation pressure caused the total crypto market capitalization to drop by about 2.6% in a single day, temporarily pushing Bitcoin down to the low $83,000s before it quickly recovered to the mid-$84,000s due to strong spot ETF inflows.

4. US Bitcoin Spot ETFs Turn Net Positive for 2026 Cumulative Inflows

During the week from September 18 to September 25, 2026, US Bitcoin spot ETFs saw a massive net inflow of approximately $2.8 billion. This inflow successfully offset the $5.8 billion cumulative outflow deficit from the first half of the year, turning the total cumulative net inflows for 2026 positive to over $800 million for the first time.

This massive inflow provided strong support that helped Bitcoin quickly recover from its temporary price correction back to the mid-$84,000 range.

What to watch today and this week

  1. 02 Oct (Fri) 21:30 KST — Release of the US September Employment Report by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This report, containing the non-farm payrolls and unemployment rate, is a key indicator for assessing the Federal Reserve's future interest rate cuts and can increase market volatility.
  2. 08 Oct (Thu) 03:00 KST — Release of the US FOMC September Meeting Minutes by the US Federal Reserve Board (FRB). The detailed discussions from the September Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting will be disclosed, which will influence macroeconomic and liquidity outlooks.

Volatility often picks up around these dates. Simply knowing when they land helps you avoid being caught off guard.
